628 Painting II

1 semester, ½ credit

Open to sophomores, juniors, and seniors

Prerequisite: 627 Painting I 

This course offers the opportunity for the advanced painting student to work more independently and, ideally, more creatively. It will offer the student the opportunity to experiment and choose his/her own directions in painting with special emphasis on creating original designs. Students will be expected to purchase their own paints, brushes, and canvas.

By the completion of this course, students will be able to…

  1. Demonstrate operational skills in painting.
  2. Apply painting techniques.
  3. Imitate painting styles.
  4. Design their own compositions.
  5. Paint with acrylics with operational skills that show drawing, color theory, composition rules, and originality.
  6. Use color theory.
