627 Painting I

1 semester, ½ credit

Open to sophomores, juniors, and seniors

Prerequisite: 621 Drawing I 

The student should come into this course with some drawing ability. This course offers a wide variety of painting experiences. The medium used will be acrylic on canvas. Students will be expected to purchase their own paints, brushes, and canvas.

By the completion of this course, students will be able to…

  1. Demonstrate operational skills in painting.
  2. Apply painting techniques.
  3. Imitate painting styles.
  4. Design their own compositions.
  5. Paint with acrylics with operational skills that show drawing, color theory, composition rules, and originality.
  6. Use color theory.
