907 Leadership

1 semester, ½ credit (with opportunity to take it 2 semesters, 1 credit)

Open to juniors and seniors

Prerequisite: Either elected into Student Council for the current year as the class is taken, or complete the application process.

*Special Note - There will be numerous events throughout the year that are outside of class, that you must be involved in.  Leadership will be a fun course, but must be taken seriously. The administration depends on you to be leaders, role models as well as responsible and dependable students.

Leadership is a combination of Student Council and the development of personal and team leadership skills. Students shall participate in organizing and attending school events and functions. This course is designed to provide you with the opportunity to unlock your leadership potential and to develop the essential skills needed for effective leaders. This semester long course allows students to practice as well as learn about leadership skills necessary in leading an organization.


By the completion of this course, students will be able to...

  1. Identify positive leadership traits.
  2. Exemplify interpersonal relations.
  3. Enhance their decision making, problem solving and communication skills.
  4. Apply the learned skills in dealing with peers, school administration and the community.
  5. Carry out parliamentary procedures and develop problem –solving skills, team building, and conflict management.


By the completion of this course, students will know...

  1. Their own definition of leadership, how to identify a leader and their leadership style
  2. How to effectively work in a ‘team’ atmosphere and understand factors which influence group dynamics
  3. How to plan and participate in community service projects
  4. The importance of goal-setting and time management
