612 Guitar II

1 semester, ½ credit

Open to sophomores, juniors, and seniors

This course is designed to further student’s knowledge of guitar.  Students will review aspects of guitar 1.  Other skills/knowledge include; basic bass guitar, power chords, barre chords, and composition.  Students must provide their own acoustic guitar, case, tuner, and guitar picks.


By the completion of this course, student will be able to...

  1. All material from class 608.
  2. Play C, G, D, F major scales.
  3. Play basic bass guitar.
  4. Demonstrate power chord structure.
  5. Demonstrate barre chord structures.
  6. Play class compositions.

  1. How to read C, G, D, F major scales
  2. Parts of a bass guitar
  3. Basic bass guitar patterns
  4. How to notate power chords
  5. How to notate barre chords
  6. How to read power and barre chords
  7. Basic composition skills
