917 Accounting I

1 semester, ½ credit

Open to juniors and seniors 

This is a course designed to study methods of recording and summarizing a service business transactions. Students will learn about the differences between a sole-proprietorship, partnership, and a corporation. Once a principle is taught, practice problems are assigned to gain skill. Automated accounting on the computer is also part of this course.



 By the completion of this course, students will be able to… 

  1. Analyze a service business transactions and record them correctly in various accounting forms.
  2. Prepare all documents and reports needed in the accounting cycle.
  3. Complete a six column worksheet for a service business.



 By the completion of this course, students will know… 

  1. Possible careers with an accounting degree
  2. Differences between sole-proprietorship, partnership, and a corporation
  3. How to complete a general journal, general ledger, and other accounting forms
