Young People's Political Organization

Purpose: The purpose of the Young People's Political Organization (YPPO) is:
  • To educate members politically
  • To make members aware of the responsibility and duty of voting
  • To help members understand political candidates and their issues
  • To help members understand the problems of local communities
Membership: The club is open to all students; members must attend at least 90% of the meetings to be active in the organization.
Meetings: Refer to agenda or listing posted in homeroom.
Activities: In election years, mock elections are held. A simulated city council meeting, usually in the evening in April, depending upon participation of members. Other topics which are brought up by members of the organization.
Officers: Any member of the organization can nominate persons for officers. All members of the organization vote for the officers. Elections take place during the May meeting. Offices are president, vice-president and secretary. President should be a senior, Vice-president and Secretary could be a Junior or a Senior.
Participation Points: Students can receive 1-10 points depending upon service to the organization, attendance at meetings and participation in the city council meeting and any other activities performed by the club.
