Global Social Concerns

Purpose: The purpose of this club is to educate the members and the wider school community about important global issues of social injustice, to reach out to the wider community about these concerns through the local media and our website, and to take action where we can to combat these injustices or to help victims of social injustice.
Membership: The club is open to all students who are willing to become involved. All are required to attend the monthly meeting, but members are encouraged to become more actively involved in projects outside of the monthly seminar period.
Meetings: Refer to the agenda for monthly meeting sschedule. Other more frequent meetings will be held when projects are planned.
Activities: Each month the club will focus on a specific social issue (hunger, child slavery, etc.). During the meeting for that month, we will invite speakers or have presentations about that issue. Additional meetings will be held to plan and accomplish a specific action in response to the problem.
Cost: There is no cost. Fund raising may be attempted occasionally.
Officers: Elections are held in the spring for officers for the following year. Offices include Chancellor, Vice Chancellor, Keeper of the Books, Sage, and Council (5 members).
Participation Points: Students can receive 1-10 points depending upon the level of activity and attendance at meetings.
Extra Information: For more information, see Mrs. Russell in Room 207 during seminar.
