General Information

The SFBRHS Media Center houses approximately 8,000 books and audiovisual materials, 32 computers connected to the Internet and wireless access for students who have their own laptops.  Students use the Internet to do individual research, check individual progress on Skyward Family Access and send email. All students are required to abide by the Acceptable Use Policy. Students also use the computers to do word processing, to create PowerPoint presentations and video clips for their classes.  Class specific licensed software is also available for students to complete assignments.  The faculty reserve time to bring their classes to the media center to do research; laptops are also available for faculty to reserve for student use.

Library Hours:

Monday – Thursday  7:30 AM—4:00 PM

Friday                        7:30 AM—3:15 PM

When school dismisses early, the Media Center will close at dismissal time.

Policies

Gum, candy, food and drinks are not permitted in the media center.

Students coming to the media center without a class must have a pass.  They must sign in and out at the desk.  Students using the media center during lunch must also have a pass from their classroom teacher.

The media center is used for research, individual and group study and for recreational reading.  A quiet working atmosphere is expected.

Students receive a print quota of 50 pages each semester.  Additional pages may be purchased for $.05 per page.

A workstation is provided for student use.  It includes a paper cutter, hole punch, scissors, stapler, and other materials that students frequently request.  These materials are to be used in the media center and returned to the workstation before the student leaves the media center.

A copy machine is available at the cost of $.10 per copy.

Checking Materials In and Out

Students are responsible for all materials checked out in their names.  Students should not loan books checked out in their name to other students.

All print materials except for encyclopedias and some class reserve materials may be checked out for two weeks and then renewed one time.  Encyclopedias and reserve materials are available for overnight checkout only.  Videotapes, CDs and DVDs may be checked out by students for one week.

Overdue and Lost Items

It is the student’s responsibility to return all borrowed materials in a timely fashion.  Overdue materials are assessed a fine of $.15 per day.  Overdue notices are sent to students quarterly.  Overdue materials are expected to be returned when the notice is received and all fines paid.

Lost materials are the responsibility of the student.  Please check with the librarian for the replacement price of the material.
